Multicolore Launches PALOMOSA, the New Back-to-School Bash
YOUR LAST WAVE OF SUMMER FINALE
Montréal, April 18, 2024 — Multicolore, the dynamic company behind beloved events like Piknic Électronik and Igloofest, proudly unveils Palomosa, an electrifying new festival set to light up September 5, 6, and 7. Serving as a spiritual successor to the MEG (Montréal Électronique Groove) festival, which began in 1999 thanks to Mustapha Terki and Jacques Primeau, and later integrated into Multicolore's summer lineup in 2018, Palomosa carries forward MEG's legacy of celebrating musical diversity in a festive atmosphere! Today marks the dawn of a new era as the festival unveils its revamped identity in full splendour!
As Montréal bids adieu to summer, Palomosa rides the wave of back-to-school anticipation, imbuing its attendees with the rejuvenating spirit to savour those final outdoor soirées. This all-groove-inclusive fest boasts a diverse lineup spanning pop, rock, R&B, Latin, and EDM, promising an unforgettable experience. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Parc Jean-Drapeau on September 6 and 7, Palomosa will completely transform the venue with its unique layout. Drawing inspiration from sun-drenched summer fun and the cozy hues of twilight skies that mark the season's end, the festival's visual identity sets the stage for a memorable event. September 5 will feature an exclusive pre-launch event, with further details to be revealed soon.
"I am brimming with joy, nostalgia, and pride as I pass the baton of MEG Montréal's legacy to Multicolore's exceptional team. Their expertise, integrity, and professionalism are truly commendable. I extend my gratitude to the artists, partners, and audiences who made MEG's 24 editions a resounding success. I have every confidence that Palomosa will honour MEG's heritage and blaze its own trail," remarks Mustapha Terki, cofounder of MEG Montréal.
"Early September marks a pivotal moment in Montréal's calendar, as residents return from vacations and newcomers discover the city's vibrant rhythm. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce a unifying event that pays homage to MEG's legacy. With a wealth of local and international musical talent, the stage is set to bid summer farewell in style! MEG is not merely a memory — it's back, rejuvenated, and rebranded, ready to embrace new horizons!" exclaims Pascal Lefebvre, cofounder, president, and CEO of Multicolore.
Palomosa's distinctive identity, both in name and aesthetics, was crafted by the innovative minds at design agency Deux Huit Huit. Tasked with capturing the festival's festive, inclusive, and effortlessly cool essence, the team drew inspiration from Montréal's rich underground musical history.
“Palomosa’s eclectic lineup and carefully curated offerings led us on a journey through the origins of DJ culture and its impact on contemporary music. This exploration birthed a central character for the brand identity: the cool cat community radio host. Charismatic and groovy, this figure embodies the festival's spirit, captivating audiences with its retro-futuristic charm," explains Anne Sylvestre, creative director of Deux Huit Huit.
"In search of a name that encapsulates both energy and comfort, we opted for a coined term that resonates with both French and English audiences. “Palomosa" emerged as an exotic and alluring word, without borrowing directly from another Latin language. Its melodious pronunciation evokes freshness and warmth akin to a revitalizing summer tonic. For our clients, this name embodies the festival's essence — a celebration of diverse cultures, rhythms, and the spirit of summer," adds Frankie Latour Dammann, brand strategy director for Deux Huit Huit.
The inaugural lineup for Palomosa's debut edition will be unveiled on Thursday, April 25. In the meantime, enthusiasts are encouraged to subscribe to their newsletter at https://palomosa.com for exclusive updates and insights.
